Irby Construction Company has been involved in substation construction throughout most of the company’s existence. Projects have ranged from small distribution to larger 500 kV and 765 kV stations located throughout the United States and abroad.

Our expertise is best suited to turnkey projects that consist of a combination of transmission lines and substations for a utility or independent power producer. Additionally, our vast experience makes Irby a natural fit for renewable interconnection.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Two 230 kV substations in Nevada (design, procurement, construction and testing) were completed 11 months after signing the contract, including 216 miles of 230 kV wood pole H-structures.
- Seven substations ranging from 92 kV to 230 kV in California (engineering, procurement and construction [EPC]) employing a combination of ring bus and breaker-and-a-half scheme with microwave for communication and SCADA.
- Five 115 kV substations (EPC) in Belize, Central America, including 92 miles of 115 kV wood pole H-structure transmission line.
